We kicked off our second 888poker LIVE stop 2025 at Grosvenor's Merchant City Casino in Glasgow, the 1990 European Capital of Culture! 888poker LIVE Glasgow was a huge success, with the Main Event prize pool maxing out at a massive £309,320.
It was also the very first time 888poker LIVE touched down north of the border in Scotland!
The series kicked off on 13 March, with the Main Event Day 1 flights and final days of action running from 19 through 23 March. The tournament attracted 407 entries and generated an enormous prize pool, with £58,130 reserved for the last player standing!
From the start of the final table action, native Glaswegian Dean Lyall aggressively built his stack, knocking out several of his final table opponents. His dominance continued heads-up versus Daniel Johnson. And it took less than thirty minutes for Lyall to take down the tournament.
Both Dean and Daniel played valiantly and deserve a huge round of applause for the determination and ability they brought to the table.
Day 2 of the High Roller and Days 1B through 3 of the Main Event featured tables were live-streamed on our 888pokerTV Twitch channel, where the action came fast and furious!
Day 1A Action – 888poker LIVE Glasgow Main Event
Day 1A of the 888poker Glasgow Main Event was a quiet, intimate affair, but that suited the first-flight chip leader, Dmitri Dudakov, just fine.
Dudakov dominated the opening flight, vanquishing the rest of the field and bagging all the 240,000 in play. He was the only player to advance to Day 2 out of the eight runners.
Across the floor, a star-studded field of 49 played the £1,650 buy-in High Roller, including 888poker Ambassadors Ian Simpson, Vivian Saliba, and Lucia Navarro. Also throwing their caps into the ring were Andrew Hulme, Jack Hardcastle, and Matthew Davenport.

Day 1BC Action – 888poker LIVE Glasgow Main Event
Day 1B of the Main Event was a decidedly more rambunctious affair. 2024 888poker LIVE Manchester Main Event champion Stephen Barnes found himself in familiar territory.
Last August, he bagged the title, trophy and £58,000 top prize for his efforts. This time, he slogged 300 kilometres up north and picked up right where he left off, snaring the chip lead over the 22 players who bagged and tagged for Day 2.
The 888poker team ambassadors Ian Simpson, Vivian Saliba, Josh Manley, Lucia Navarro, Nick Eastwood, and Ricardo Mateus also made an appearance. Unfortunately, only Vivi (169,500) and Josh (105,000) punched their tickets to Day 2. UK poker's power couple Matthew and Sinead Davenport also fell short on Day 1B.
The 112 entries today brought the field up to 120, with the third Day 1C Turbo to go. 888poker Ambassador Ian Simpson, who won the last 888poker Live event in Madrid in January, dominated the Turbo flight and was the only one to advance out of 13 entries, bagging 390,000 and the chip lead.
At the end of play, 133 players had entered through the first three flights, with 24 securing their tickets into Day 2.

Days 1DEF Action – 888poker LIVE Glasgow Main Event
Day 1D proved to be the busiest of the Main Event, with loads of action, bad beats and lucky river cards galore!
Team888 streamer Nick “Eastyyy22” Eastwood built up a stack of more than 100,000 at one point but couldn’t recover after taking a big dent against Francisco Salvador and hit the rail. Fellow 888poker teammates Lucia Navarro and Ricardo Mateus also failed to make it through, as did Sinead Davenport, Thomas Hall, Robbie Bull, and David Docherty.
A total of 32 players out of 157 entries survived Day 1D. With players in the turbo Day 1E flight, the field eclipsed 300 and surpassed the £250,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Day 1F attracted another 74 entries, and we were well on the way to eclipsing over £300K in prize money as 21 players advanced to Day 2.
Day 1D saw Maogen Fu (376,000) put in another strong appearance after already nabbing two titles in the past few days – the High Roller and Big Shot events

Day 2 - Numbers Are In with £309,320 in Prize Pool!
After six starting flights, hundreds of eliminations, and unimaginable bad beat stories, including AA being cracked, the inaugural 888poker Live Glasgow Main Event reached the final table of nine on Day 2.
Local Scotsman Daniel Johnson led the charge, who bagged up 3,455,000 and the chip lead, more than 1,000,000 ahead of his closest challenger.

Day 2 started with 84 survivors, joined by nine new arrivals, creating a total field of 407. Only the top 50 would finish in the money.
It was a swingy kind of day that saw 888poker’s four ambassadors battling to make the final table. Although Ian Simpson entered the day in pole position, behind chip leader Francisco Salvador, his pocket deuces lost a flop to Joe Dixon’s AdKh.
He never recovered and was out short of the money in 63rd place.

A Day 1F bullet successfully got Lucia Navarro to the Day 2 tables, but it was not to be. She went out in 72nd place. It wasn’t much better for 888 streamer Josh Manley, who found the rail six spots sort of the money in 56th.
The last 888poker team player left standing was Vivian Saliba. She ran up her stack into a 25th-place finish for £2,410.

First to hit the rail was GK. Chip leader Daniel Johnson opened to 80,000 under the gun with AdQd. Dean Lyall called from the cutoff and GK moved all-in with KJo on the button. Daniel called and Dean folded.
William Haughey was next to get his walking papers in 8th place for £7,430. His pocket Jacks got run down on the flop by Johnson's Ako when he, once again, paired his ace.

Zbigniew Wieczorek woke up in early position with pocket Nines, but unfortunately for him, Dean Lyall had QQ. The Queens held, and Dean sent Wieczorek to the rail for £9,770.
Jack Moore was next to leave the tournament after waking up with AJo on the hijack. Dean Lyall called his all-in with pocket Nines. Jack flopped a gut-buster but missed the turn and the river. Moore collected £13,050 in sixth place for his efforts.
Dean trapped another prey when Harry Cattanach raised and then moved all-in over the top of Harry's pocket Aces. However, his AKo was no match for the aces, and Harry found the rail in fifth place for £17,540.

Michael Broadhurst went out in fourth place after getting short-stacked and pushing all-in from the small blind with K2o. Unluckily, Dean was in the BB with AdQd and easily extinguished any hope Michael had of a double-up. Broadhurst walked away with £23,600.
Dean Lyall found another victim in Martin Byrne, who ran his A6o into Dean's pocket Nines. Lyall's Nines were again up to the task, and Martin was out in third place for £31,800.
We were now heads-up.

888poker LIVE Glasgow – Heads-up Action!

This final table was one of the fastest in 888poker LIVE history and the heads-up action was no different.
Dean managed to stretch his lead to 3:1 at one point and never looked back. After approximately thirty minutes of play, Dan woke up with pocket Sixes. However, his pair was no match for Dean’s pocket Kings.
After a clean runout, Dean Lyall was crowned the first-ever 2025 888poker LIVE Glasgow Main Event champion.
“It’s great to come back here and be able to win. Home field advantage really came in for me there. Delighted to win, finally,” Lyall said after prevailing over the 407-player field.
“I mostly relied on just getting good hands, to be honest, more than anything,” he said. “A lot of good hands, really. That was it.”
Well played to all!
