Brazilians Dominate ChampionChip Games with 10 Titles - UK Wins ME!

Sunday, August 28, 888poker launched the latest edition of ChampionChip Games. The 24-event series offered affordable buy-ins, mostly under $30, with massive guarantees. It ran through September 6 and catered to a combined 26,028 entries and awarded $486,299 in prize money!

As a whole, the series was dominated by Brazilian players, who captured an astounding 10 titles! Players from the United Kingdom had four victories, Ukrainians three, and players from Belarus nabbing two titles.

Additionally, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Montenegro, Sweden, Thailand, Romania, Estonia, and Germany all accounted for a single title apiece.

UK’s The_Hoff_Man Mounts Big Comeback to Win ME

Throughout the entire ChampionChip Games, Day 1 flights were held for the $60 buy-in, $200K GTD Main Event. The tournament attracted 3,386 players who rebought 484 times. The generated $212,850 prize pool was paid out to the top 420 finishers.

Among those to crack the top 100 were the following players –

At that point, the final nine players went on an overnight hiatus with New Zealand’s “bowladay” and their stack of 7.7 million leading the way. Canada’s “bybababy” sat second with 6.1 million, while the next three players – “Zlodei228” (4,565,627), “excimiii” (4,349,428), and “ChePushila77” (4,274,313) – had more than four million.

“Orcafalke” (3,696,552) and “birineu” (3,531,445) both had over three million, while the UK’s “The_Hoff_Man” (2,491,490) and Brazil’s “manel9595” (1,996,770) rounded out the pack.

The final table was live streamed on our 888pokerTV Twitch channel, and despite having the big stacks, “bowladay” bowed out in sixth place for $5,001.97. “bybababy” followed them out the door in fifth place for $6,875.05.

On the flip side, “The_Hoff_Man” mounted a nice comeback from the second-shortest stack at the final table. They and wound up defeating Moldova’s “Zlodei228” in heads-up play to win the prestigious title and $26,202.59 top prize.

Germany’s “joehighfritz” Denies a Brazilian in Mini ME

On Sunday, September 4, the $16.50 buy-in Event #22: Mini Main Event took place. That tournament attracted 1,087 players who rebought 347 times. The resulting 1,434-entry field amassed a $21,510 prize pool that was reserved for the top 180 finishers.

Among those to make relatively deep runs were the following players –

Deny a Brazilian a title! That’s right, “joehighfritz” bested Brazil’s “WGBrunelli” in heads-up play to claim the title and $3,143.15 top prize.

In other “Main Event” news, Sunday also saw the $5.50 buy-in Event #23: Micro Main Event play out. That tournament saw 1,313 players rebuy 570 times and coming out on top of the 1,883-entry field was Brazil’s “ErikyDani”. They turned their small buy-in into a $2,071.50 payday!

First Two-Time Winner of Series Crowned

On Sunday, August 28, “Britopoker22” was one of 1,426 players to enter the $5 buy-in “Made to Amaze” tournament. With 470 re-entries, an 1,896-entry field awarded a $10,000 prize pool to the top 240 finishers.

After 7 hours and 35 minutes of play, it was Brazil’s “Britopoker22” finishing as the last player standing to claim a $1,381 top prize.

Just three days later, the Brazilian was back at in the $22 buy-in Event #13: Marathon Deepstack. This tournament saw 498 players rebuy 130 times to create a 644-entry field.

That meant a $12,880 prize pool was paid out to the top 96 finishers, including the following –
