We have a zillion memories in our lifetime, so why am I thinking about being pulled around the beach on an inflatable elephant, clinging desperately to the trunk, as my uncle kicks sand in my face - a hungry smile eating every grain.
It’s emotion.
Try it.
Close your eyes and think of a memory. I guarantee that once you open the envelope and look inside you will find incredible pleasure or terrible pain. Consider the first time you kiss someone. The moment you get your first taste of iron from a busted lip. The day you walk into the Amazon Room in the Rio for Day 1 of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event.
Goosebumps don't cut it.
The excitement of 800+ people fills the room like laughing gas. Hairs stand on end. The music. The chip riffle. The hysteria of players bustling to take selfies with Dominik Nitsche, Martin Jacobson.
You have to be there to experience it.
I can’t give the feeling the justice it deserves.
But I get it.
The flights cost a fortune. Then you have to find somewhere to stay, and the $10,000 admission is a little on the steep side.
I get it.
And, so do we at 888poker.
The 8-Team Promotion
For the second successive year, we’re is giving six lucky players the opportunity to talk strategy with some of the game's most celebrated thinkers as they experience the WSOP Main Event, perhaps for the first time.
Our 888poker ambassadors lead six teams all desperate to become the 8-Team champion. A captain, a wingman and an online qualifier make up the team structure. Points equal prizes, and this year the awards are better than ever.
We already know the Team Captains, but for old time’s sake, let’s give them another whirl.
Team UK
Team Sweden - Martin Jacobson
Team Spain - Marti Roca
Team Canada - Parker Talbot
Team Brazil - Vivian Saliba
Team Germany - Dominik Nitsche
A fortnight ago, Niall Farrell became the first of six Wingmen as the Scottish Triple Crown winner for an imposing-looking 8-Team UK.
It’s time to announce the second Wingman; this time for Sweden.
Drum roll, please…
I forgot.
The headline gave it away.
Ah, well.
Anton Wigg will join Martin Jacobson in a formidable-looking 8-Team Sweden. Wigg is a former European Poker Tour (EPT) and World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) Main Event winner, who has accrued $2.3m playing live tournaments, and $7.8m playing online under his pseudonym AnteSvante.
Wigg will be hoping for some of the Niall Farrell 8-Team announcement rungood. In the wake of the big reveal, Farrell took down a major online tournament for over $100,000 - such was his excitement of joining the roster.
Each member of the winning team will receive a 2019 WSOP Main Event package. A winner emerges via a point system. You earn points by surviving the day, with bonuses for the chip leader, and the last person standing.
The contest ends June 4, so get over to 888poker, and see if you can book one of those six seats.
The hairs on your arm need the exercise.
