From March 4-10, the 888poker LIVE Bucharest Festival will take place at the Intercontinental Hotel, and if last year’s series is any indication, it’s shaping up to be a big one. The stop’s €888 buy-in, €300K GTD Main Event will award the winner a package to the 2019 World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas along with the first-place money. The series will run from March 6-10 and start players with a 30K starting stack, offer a big blind ante format, and utilise a shot clock.
Often called the “Little Paris of the East,” Bucharest is a hot spot for poker players. In fact, we’re excited to announce that 888poker Ambassadors Vivi Saliba, Ana Marquez, Dominik Nitsche, and 2014 World Series of Poker champ Martin Jacobson will all be in attendance. They look forward to getting in great action on the poker tables and taking in the city off the felt.
The capital of Romania, Bucharest is known for is known for its wide, tree-lined boulevards and Art Nouveau architecture. The city is a mix of French-designed municipal buildings intermingled with utilitarian structures, parks, bookshops, and museums.
Best of all, drinks are cheaper than most European cities, so grab a beer at Caru' cu Bere, the Old Town’s most famous beer hall.
888poker LIVE Bucharest Schedule
The 888poker LIVE Bucharest Festival kicks off on Monday, March 4 with the €230 Opening Event Day 1A at 17:00. Day 1B will take place at the same time on Tuesday, March 5 with the surviving players from both flights returning to play down to a winner on Day 2 at 14:00 on Wednesday, March 6. That Opener will start players with 15,000 in chips, play 30-minute levels, and offer a two-re-entry option.
There will also be a €115 buy-in Satellite to the €300K GTD Main Event at 21:00 on both Monday and Tuesday, as well as one on Wednesday at 17:00.
Then, at 13:00 on Wednesday, March 6, the €888 buy-in, €300K GTD Main Event kicks off with the 1A flight. Players will start with 30,000 in chips, play 40-minute levels, and have the option of unlimited re-entries. Also, on Wednesday there will be a €230 Turbo Bounty at 20:00.
Thursday, March 7 will be a busy day as Day 1B of the Main Event will take place at 13:00 followed by the €60 buy-in Ladies Event at 15:00. At 17:00 there will be a €115 Satellite into the 1C flight as well as a €200 Satellite to the High Roller at 20:00.
Day 1C of the Main Event will take place at 13:00 on Friday, and there will be a final Day 1D Turbo flight (20-minute levels) at 21:00. A €115 Satellite into that last flight will be held at 16:00.
On Saturday, Day 2 of the Main Event commences at 13:00, but those not in it are free to jump into the €330 Two-Day Deepstack an hour later. A 16:00 there will be another €200 Satellite to the €1,700 buy-in High Roller, which kicks off at 20:00. The High Roller features unlimited re-entries, a 50,000-starting stack, and 30-minute levels.
The final day of the festival – Sunday, March 10 – begins at 13:00 with Day 2 of the Deepstack and a €220 Turbo Deepstack tournament. The €300K GTD Main Event final day gets underway at 13:15 (final table levels increase to 60 minutes) with Day 2 of the High Roller starting 45 minutes after that. In other words, four champions will be crowned that Sunday.
As previously mentioned, the winner of the 888poker LIVE Bucharest €300K GTD Main Event will also receive a 2019 WSOP prize package, valued at $12,600. The package includes six nights (July 4-10, 2019) at the luxurious Vdara Hotel in Las Vegas, a $10,000 WSOP Main Event buy-in, $1,000 for travel and expenses (paid directly to your 888poker account), and an invite to a Welcome Party at the Vdara Hotel. Additionally, winners will be provided transportation from Vdara Hotel to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino and be given an 888poker LIVE kit.

A Look Back at 2018’s Festival
You might remember that last year’s Main Event crushed its €288K GTD by drawing 469 entries, which created a €360,192 ($439,580) prize pool. Andrei Racolta won that tournament for €71,042 ($86,700).
Other winners from last year’s festival included Narcis-Gabriel Nedelcu, who topped a field of 385 entries to win the €230 Opening Event for €14,055 ($17,275); and Ana Marquez, who navigated a 34-entry field to win the €2,200 High Roller for €26,080 ($32,068).
